Friends at work and flora & fauna
On 8th November we planted 6 maple trees (donated by Wellington Town Council) by the Shawbirch Road entrance.
Another team planted some yellow rattle seeds in the meadow between Tee Lake and the canal pools ...
...while other volunteers dealt with this leaning willow and a fallen tree at the top of Tee Lake.
On 1st November the volunteers removed some of the redundant kissing gates and fencing on the Reserve.
Job done!
Grand work! Others planted some snake's head fritillaries and cleared the path by Shawbirch Bridge.

Other teams removed old fencing by Donnerville steps and undertook some path clearing around Tee Lake.
On 18th October the Friends did some path clearing, strimming an area for tree planting, and painting at the Shawbirch entrance.
The nature reserve was recently given one of the trees from the Tree of Trees Sculpture created for the Platinum Jubilee. Anna Turner, Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire, helped us plant this lovely rowan near Dothill Pool.

Laurel, though decorative, needs to be controlled otherwise it takes over.

On 30th August we did some brush-cutter work on the Tee Lake meadow. This is to enable contractors to clear the brambles encroaching on the meadow.
Another task for 30th August was the making safe of the trench we'd dug to hinder the spread of the poplars by Tee Lake. Here it is before ...

Extreme hot temperatures led to cancellation of our usual Tuesday volunteering session on 19th July.
12th July - the Friends worked on reducing the large number of poplar runners on the west side of Tee Lake.
Another group weeded the oak nursery.

I think a water pipe or sewage pipe was supported on those blocks many years ago, they look pre war.
